The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology‐Japan(MEXT) has adopted the four universities' efforts as the" Strategic University Partnership Support Project"― one of MEXT's supports for educational reform in universities. The four universities are Fukuoka Institute of Technology（Representative university）,Kyushu University, Fukuoka Women's University and Seinan Gakuin University. they work at organizing a consortium at the master's level on the theme of environment and energy issues. MEXT's adoption brought the four universities to sign an agreement on the formation of the "National, Public, and Private Universities' CONSORTIUM－FUKUOKA" at Kyushu University on September 19, 2008. This support project aims to make the universities' educational research level higher as the "center of knowledge" in the region by effective utilizaton of each university's educational research resources.
